U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers recently seized more than $838,000 in unreported currency concealed in a vehicle while heading South. The seizure occurred on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 in a 2016 Chevrolet Colorado occupied by a male U.S. citizen. It is not a crime to carry more than $10,000, but it is a federal offense not to declare currency or monetary instruments totaling $10,000 or more to a CBP officer upon entry or exit from the U.S.
